Our Partners
The AAEDC is supported through the collaboration and investment of local public partners and community stakeholders. Together, these partnerships provide the stable, long-term foundation needed to advance economic growth, attract new opportunities, and strengthen the region’s future.
Building Stronger Communities Through Partnership
The AAEDC works closely with local government entities, development authorities, and community organizations to align goals, share resources, and ensure that economic development efforts benefit the entire Alexandria area.
Lakes Area Economic Development Authority (LAEDA)
The Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission (AAEDC) is supported by the Lakes Area Economic Development Authority (LAEDA) along with annual contributions from Douglas County and surrounding townships. This partnership ensures a coordinated approach to local and regional growth.
The LAEDA model—first of its kind in Minnesota—brings together the City of Alexandria, the City of Garfield, and the Townships of Alexandria and LaGrand under a formal structure with designated EDA powers. This innovative partnership allows communities to work collectively across boundaries, addressing long-term economic development goals and shared priorities for the region.
